    Wind up conference

I would like to go to this conference as i think there is a real market for a eurosceptic party with PD style views on the economy. How do you register etc. i would like to propose such a move if the party is breaking up.

So you take highly unpopular views on foreign policy, mix them with highly unpopular policies on the free market and expect to come up with a popular party?

Given that Ireland is a hugely pro-EU country and also that the PDs are pro-EU and were also, for the most part, pro-Lisbon I don't suspect you have an ice cube's chance in hell of such an idea taken on board.

I also imagine that the meeting will be members only.

    I have my pass anyway.
Non-members may come but they must be signed up along with a member as far as I know.

Though not a member, I'd love to go to support those who have the desire to see party go on. If they choose to go on. I'll join the party.
The Mahon Tribunal found Olivia Mitchell to have received an inappropriate payment from Frank Dunlop at the time of the 1992 Election. F.G. Gael has taken no action against her.

    Wind up conference

I'm a member of the YPDs and of the main Party also.I would like to see the party go on into the future if it is "politically viable" to do so.Even though Ciaran Cannon has said publicly that it is not viable to go on I believe it should be left up to the individual members at the conference to decide whether they wish to continue as a party.

I'm thinking about joining Fine Gael if the PDs do decide to wind up.I have gone to several FG meetings and i've been liking what i've heard so far. This present government is a shambles. They've screwed us on education, they've screwed the over 70s out of medical cards. This government should be forced out of office...

Saying all of the above,i would welcome some day a party who would be willing to tackle issues such as abortion, gay marriage/civil unions,as well as the economy!!!Until such a party comes into existence I believe i may have to make do with FG or some other centerist/populist party. Thanks for reading.

You'd have to ask David Cameron about such issues. Or perhaps the UKIP.

Well a good mate of mine is a party member so i will see if i can go.
I am not suggesting a tory style eurosceptic party more of a scandanavian style eurosceptic party. There is a real market there for dining a la carte at the european table.

"Some 300 members of the Progressive Democrats have indicated that they will be attending Saturday's special meeting called to decide the future of the party.

According to a spokesman, the official party membership stands at over 3,000.

The meeting, to be held at a hotel in Mullingar, will take place behind closed doors.

It is scheduled to get underway by mid morning on Saturday but that could be delayed by should additional members attending need to have their credentials checked.

The meeting will discuss a proposal from the leadership to have the party wound up."
