No chance of getting crushed on the way in then!!
By Irish standards 300 would be regarded as a reasonably large political meeting. Certainly not up to FF or FG numbers but definitely comparable to meetings of Labour, SF or the Greens.

I'd like to have gone but i've something else on and as I haven't felt that the PDs are a viable party for quite some time now, i've already resigned my membership

Im old enough to remember the birth of the PDs and the excitement it generated.

Breaking the mould of civil war politics was the mantra and i remember many normal middle income people hoping that this was the party for them.

Im saddened by what theyve become in recent years representing big business and the values of Mcdowell and Harney are miles away from the values Des O'Malley stood for.

How ironic if the disgusting cuts to the cervical cancer vaccine program is the last act of this dying wasp.

Shame on you Mary Harney, shame on you.

They never broke the mould of Civil War politics though. Irish politics is FF vs. FG as much as it ever was and since the PDs only went into power with FF and have linked themselves with FF for most of their history, they were only really ever an interest group within FF.

Its a pity it took so long for so many FG supporters to realise this.

They have utterly changed civil war politics by forcing FF into coalitions and keeping FG out of power for 20 years. The fact of the matter is that today civil war politics is dead. It might have died anyway but the fact of the matter is that the PDs pulled the trigger.

PS, Des won't be there. Anyone know why?

Every one sees what you appear to be, few really know what you are, and those few dare not oppose themselves to the opinion of the many, who have the majesty of the state to defend them.

So where does that leave the Harnesaurus? If she gets to be a minister as an Independent, why not Lowry or JHR?

    OK, not JHR.

They would be considered to be overly competent and to have to much integrity to be considered for this cabinet
