PDs to wind up before Xmas '08?

    From today's Tribune:

The party doesn't have a general secretary. The building that houses its headquarters is being sold. Fundraising is non-existent. And, critically, there is no sign of any new vision or policies.
Let alone the wider political situation if there is no HQ, General Secretary or funds it would be very hard to fight an election. Any more defections in prospect?

It is sort of surprising that people who believed in the property market that they never got around to buying their own premises.
Dan Sullivan. I was back but we still couldn't all have a vote.

    Should see you right.

As for the PDs, not suprising (infact I think it should have happened sooner) but a bit of a shame none the less. I think we need something, more like they were in the begining, in the Irish political scene.

It is good for democracy that you have as wide a range of positions as possible. Even lunatics are good to have around if only to remind you of what it is you should avoid

I'm of the slightly heretical opinion that the best thing Senator Cannon could do for the party would be to dismantle it in a careful manner in advance of the Local Elections. There is a very good chance, upon which I would place a bet, that no sitting PD councillors will be returned.
