Their is a topic under elections titled an MEP party and the notion of Harney for MEP is mentioned.
Could it happen ? "Send Mary to Europe'......every leftie would vote for her !
There was np PD mep candidate in 2004, will there be one in 2009, Dublin being the most obvious area ?

No decision made yet on candidates for the Euro election but this is the first I've heard of Harney running. There's been some talk of Fiona O'Malley running in Dublin but as I say no decisions have been taken yet.

Every leftie vote for Mary ? They would in their backside. The Minister for Health isn't the problem. The Governmental policy regarding health is. Sending Mary away, without changing the policy pursued by her, would change nothing. Just give people a new face to be annoyed with.

They should be more focused on the locals rather then standing candidates that the electroate kicked out of the Dáil last year.

I would do nearly anything including mary to get harney out of her job in health I think she is the worst minister of health of all time ,the damage done will take decades to fix never mind the genuine problems that health has.

The damage was done over several decades but no one could, or wanted to fix it.
Harney volunteered and has met the formidable might of the vested interests who, up to now, always got their way.

Whether she's the best, worst or in-between Health Minister will be up to historians to sort out.

At the moment, she trying to put patients first....but everyone (non-patient) thinks they should come before that!

Any way, my apologies for digressing on a thread that has nothing to do with Health Ministers.

Agreed, but this isn't an eith/or situation.
The Mahon Tribunal found Olivia Mitchell to have received an inappropriate payment from Frank Dunlop at the time of the 1992 Election. F.G. Gael has taken no action against her.

As stated It's not an either or and the focus for the PD'sshould be on the locals

MEP, can't see how did they would afford it but if money wasn't an issue then they should run candidates. They will in all likelyhood be also ran's but if it helps to keep the vote up. Liz O'Donnell would poll a respectable vote in Dublin. Grealish in North West but seriously doubt he'd go for it. Leinster & Munster some cllr or other. What they need is a big name ala Parlon 2002, GAA, IFA etc. Leinster Parlon prob wouldn't go but would imagine he poll respectably
