Father Hank, is your avatar a paladin from Age of Empires II?

Mine too! Thankfully Age of empiresIII, with its trendy graphics, was far too complicated and time consuming so I resisted getting sucked in. Anyway, least we were never into that life sucking menace, the world of warcraft. My younger brother has barely a double digit IQ.

I agree that III was too flashy.

The fact that we're talking about computer games is a testament to how inconsequential the PDs have become

    Sorry Hiker

Do you mean good luck as in goodbye/goodbye or as in good luck/you'll need it?

There are some who only sing when they're winning.

So to the tune of "White Christmas"

    "I'm dreaming of a,
    big comback.
Just like we did in 2002.
There'll be 6 seats in Dail Eireann
    and three in An Seanad
and scores of councilors in a row...."
As long as someone else started the idea of songs to inspire a PD comeback, I feel less shy about offering one that occurred to me back in Jan or Feb of '08 in response Owen Rooney's post about the new leadership of YPD.

[As you might recall, that post suggested that the PDs and Greens, by being willing to criticize Ahern and FF when necessary, could together have a salutary effect on the current govt. At about that time, I believe the word had been that Fiona O'Malley was not interested in the national leadership.]

So, invoking a precedent from history -- and with apologies to Owen Rooney for deposing him as leader solely for reasons of homophonic expediency -- let us all sing:

    Up the Progressives!
    They raise their battle cry!
    Fierce and determined:
    "We'll keep a watchful eye!"
    Meager but heady,
(Just read their posts on p.ie!)
    They'll stand with the Greens
    And be no mud guard!

"We will be no mud guard!"
The cry's heard near and far!
Hark! A partial rump is stirred
    From Howth to Ranelagh!
    Fiona Seanad hied to,
    So your task be hard???
    (Nay!)
    Deirdre Larkin leads you!
    Soldier on with Greens
    And be no mud guard!

Gosh, I hope you YPDs have a sense of humour, because I really am on your side and wish you all the best!
