    PDs give away free book

Surely, this has to be one of the strangest efforts ever. The PDs delivering 50,000 free copies of Stephen Collins book to key marginals in order to shore up support, included in that is DSE, which is getting 5,000 copies.

This was in the Sunday Times today.
Dan Sullivan. I was back but we still couldn't all have a vote.

I actually saw the book on a friend's hall table. Does this constitute an attempt to bribe a journo? will FF order 5000 copies of "The Boss"?

    How will FG respond?

FG could give away 50,000 copies of Garrets book... it will help cement the voters minds in time for the election..

Typical of the PDs to have such lofty notions of themselves to think that people actually care about their history. Studies have shown that only 1% of the popualtion have any interest in them

I wonder - have they torn out the rather embarassing parts of the book? Who can forget such classic moments as:

    - After the 1989 election result, McDowell saying the party was finished and advising that it should be wound up.

    - McDowell calling Liz O'Donnell a liar over her account of the formulation and launch of the disastrous 1997 manifesto

    - 2004 Local/Euro elections fiasco. McDowell, as Director of Elections, predicted that they would double their seats. Instead, they lost a third of them (might not create a good impression of their current predictions)

The key to good literature during election time is (broadly speaking) for it to be relatively snappy, not too much text, and something that can be read in one go and make an impression.

So what do the PDs produce? A 250 page paperback!

    Wipeout here we come!

Is there no limit to home out of touch the PDs are? They really are clueless.

Will you be giving away copies of Gerry Adams 25 volume autobiography. On 2nd thoughts maybe not. The electors of Tipp S could become so engrossed in it that they would forget to vote.

Jaysus. Where do they get all the money for this?

Anyway, it's not a bad read.
