Too bad for Mary her party has a snowball's chance in hell of being in power after the election. It will either be FG+Lab+Greens or FF+Labour or FF+Greens. But the PDs will be irrelevant because of their size.

Yes - I am sure she wants to finish it off - it is on its knees now awaiting the death stroke - then the corporates move in and Harneys greedy capitalist free marketeers get rich on the misery of sick people

You do know that the secret ingredient in a mocha-choca-frappachino skinny latte are the tears of poor people?

When I saw the title of this topic I assumed that Harney had applied for the job as CEO of Beacon Medical Group.
    Average expenses per TD in 2011:- FG €36,412, Lab €28,756, FF €45,219, SF €44,413, SP €23,654, PBP €31,866, WUAG €49,911, IND €37,805, CC €13,112.

Harney - 1st in line applying for Health job after Election

Who in the opposition has a workable plan to solve the health crisis, not just walking into a&e's with rte and pointing out the problems everybody knows. Enda Kenny should be shouting from the rooftops how he can solve the problems, and not just criticising every move by the government.

Actually, Lab/FG have worked out a strategy. You can read it here: http://www.thewinningticket.ie/pdf/better_health.pdf
    and here: http://www.thewinningticket.ie/pdf/Prop ... crisis.pdf

There's more docs on the FG and labour website. The difficulty is getting anybody, especially any journalist, to read them.

I might add that at thie point, Harney saying 'return the PDs to govt and i'll be minister for health' sounds more like a dire threat than a promise.

Exactly. FG and LAB have launched I think four join health policy documents, yet the media had paid scant attention to the. They prefer to rely on soundbites and that is why you have a defunct government in power for 10 years because the electorate are not informed of the true underlying problems with our public services and the ideas on how to tackle them.
But, are you happy? Support 'Mozalini's Law'

I would like her to step down after the election. She's been in the Cabinet long enough let one of the other PD TDs have a go - either O'Donnell or Parlon. I also think she made a huge blunder in forcing private-sector health-insurers to subsidise the VHI and calling it "Risk-Equalisation". Doesn't sit well with our traditional ideology of competition and consumer choice. If we want to attract people to the party, then we have to show that the little people in the party as opposed to just the big names, can have a ministerial career too.
