PD Policy Director Quits before Election

Small piece on this in the Times this morning.

Whilst one can appreciate that anyone can have any amount of reasons for leaving one's employment, that said having to recruit someone else to such a pivotal position so close to the election must be as welcome as a hole in the head for McDowell and co., at the moment.

And I understand its not the first high-ranking resignation in PD HQ recently either.

Mulconry does say in the Times article that the "thrust" of the manifesto is largely complete.

Turning down his new job would have been a bit silly since he apparently he only had a 3 year contract with the PDs to begin with according to the article.

Jaysus lads, I think I'll get my CV dusted off.

"Eh, right so lads, we'll cut taxes for the top earners yeah?"

It's not rocket science to write a PD manifesto.

See, my problem is not that this is over-simplified nonsense based on a characature, my problem is that you are smart enough to realise that it is over-simplified nonsense and yet you post it anyway.

Personally, I'm delighted for the PDs. Mulconry was a waffler. Same goes for Noctor and Gill. All style with no substance. Alls they need to do now is dump Higgins.

A rat deserting a (rapidly) sinking ship! Nothing new there.

Clearly he doesnt see them being in power again.

The excuse about his contract is nonsense - nobody employed by a political party gets a long-term contract.

Similarly, nobody quits a senior position with a party within weeks of an election!!!!!

He was a policy director. His position would be unaffacted if the PDs wound up in opposition.

so close to the election, this is not a good sign, if the Pd's had been relected into government Seamus would have been guaranteed a very good job. He must be the only person within the pd's who realises that they will not be in government after this election. The question now is there anyone in PD HQ left.

He's not the first man to desert the Government in its hour of need, and he won't be the last off the Titanic either.

Joe Lennon quit from Ahern's staff to take some stipend at the HSE
Robert Marshall quit as FF Press Secretary a few months ago (one less eejit in that office)
Dan Pender (Martin Cullen's spin doctor....the poor guy ) quit last summer. Who could blame him!
Tony Cotter (John o'Donoghue's press secretary) quit last October

But back to the PDs: Can somebody make sure that John Higgins switches off the lights on his way out?
"The IRA Army Council have a history of telling the truth. If they say they didn't do it, then I believe them" - Bertie Ahern, speaking after the murder of Det. Garda Jerry McCabe

Err......not quite! Even if you were to get the job you could find yourself out of a job a day after the election as a party has to obtain over 2% of the vote to obtain State funding. Not a good position to e in for a 1% party!
