    Enda upsets the wimmin

Red hair and red faces at the How to Elect More Women conference yesterday as Taoiseach Enda Kenny made the utterly outrageous and unacceptable observation that Minister Kathleen Lynch has red hair.

Apparently the feminists in the audience were not amused. How dare a man comment on a women's appearance!

Turning to his host, the Taoiseach began: “Let me compliment the Minister of State, Kathleen Lynch. Let me assure you this: she is fighting her corner. Believe you me, as I said to her many years ago: what they said about the flaming red hair speaks appropriately for her fight from Cork and the responsibility she has.”
    [...]

Introducing the Minister of State, conference facilitator Olivia O’Leary remarked: “There’s more to her than her red hair.”
And there was a big cheer from the floor – for Kathleen’s flaming red mane and Enda’s doleful red face.
Enda left red-faced as parting words go down in flames - The Irish Times - Sat, Jan 21, 2012

This sort of outrageous misogyny cannot be allowed to continue. I propose that all female politicians in future wear a burkha in order to prevent any comments by men on how they look. Only then will we have true equality

I'd object more to the horrible mish mash of a quote. "Appropriately for her fight from cork" What? What does he think that means? Obviously not sexist or prejudicial, it's the sort of thing he'd probably have said about a red haired guy as well. Doesn't stop it being a stupid thing to say of course.

What disturbs me about this story is the premise of the conference.

This proves beyond doubt that the numbers of utterly empty-headed people is on the rise again.

This kind of offensive discrimination has to stop. We need a conference on how to elect more red-headed people.

By voting for them? No, too obvious!

His lack of political correctness is admirable in a way, but omg, it was a stupid thing to say in front of that audience.

oh lets burn the ************************************ now.

clearly the ************************************ joke was only the tip of the iceberg.

    question.

is there any chance he may justve been trying to link himself to her ? im pretty sure kenny is a ginge himself.

not surprised from the media heads response though.

thinking has never been their strong point and our medias full of gobshytes who leap to conclusions based on their own insecurities.

A bit silly, granted, but not sure Olivia should have pounced, she could have let it slide.
