If we had a new currency what would we call it?

Hypothetical question but if Ireland abandoned the Euro (as some commentators have called for) and re-established our own currency, what would we call it? Punts and pence would seem a bit archaic so we'd have to come up with new ones.

We'd need 2 words. One for the notes (or larger denomination coins like the €2, €1 coins today) and one for the shrapnel (50 cents, 5 cents etc)
