Norris would be pretty good in the role I think. It's perfect for him, wandering the country babbling enthusiastically about preserving architectural and artistic heritage. And he'll really really annoy a) Fianna Fáilers b) Catholic Fundies and c) Loyalist nutters.

It's hard to think of anyone from the establishment parties that isn't either a criminal or an embarrasment.

Michael D Higgins is the man for the job and I say that disagreeing with most Labour policies. You couldn't get a better ambassador than the man though. Admittedly he will be 70 but I think he will capable of doing one term.
