Is that a photo of Nell McCafferty? A woman about as pointless as your average Italian pin-up. Looks like Italy and Ireland aren't all that different - they both give a platform to people with nothing meaningful to say/contribute to public life.

I am no fan of Berlusconi - the person or the politics. However, I do think that all this talk about his risque women is a bit of a Daily Mail style exaggeration/obsession. Italian popular culture is, as I said, drowned in sub-porn nudity and tastelessness, and I'm sure Berlusconi has plenty of women on the go, but I think most of the stories that reach us are still made-up nonsense.

Sweet Fanny Mae- whatever floats the báidín. I would ask , however, why the man who is no spring-chicken had a piece of art by Tiepolo
painted in ' cos the nipple of Truth offended him so much??

Interestingly the painting in question was Time Uncovering Truth and is an image of a wrinkly and a nudey nubile woman with an offensive nip

Pic here :Covering Paintings and twiddling with art! poethead

Those women are pretty, and I suspect intelligent.

The Mary harridans in Leinster House are ugly, and few are intelligent.

Not alone do we have to listen to them, we have to see them on TV.

Give me La Bella Italia any day.
