    Political Music

Hope this thread won't be deleted, but anyway.

Do you guys thing a genre of music identifies with a political party? For example, FF, the party of the working class (allegedly), could be juxtaposed with Hip Hop/Rap, a genre performed and focused on the poorest in society. Then again, FF, the party of the fat cats could also be associated with the 'bling bling' of rap.

Or for example, the PD's and military drum rolls, SF with Celtic stuff like Enya, Greens and 70's rock and roll, eg. Led Zepp, Pink Floyd, The Doors? Your thoughts would be appreciated.

McDowell "common sense" wing of the PDs - Dramatic classical like Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries.

O'Malley/O'Donnell "caring" wing of the PDs - Christian rock due to it's utter lameness.

I compared FG to Status Quo before, and it still seems suitable

McDowell kind of reminds me of Rammstein.
Labour are blatantly like the Rolling Stones; radical in the 60s but now tired and embaressing.

Me thinks you stole the FF/rap idea from Jim Carroll of the Irish Times. If not, well then let it be said that, er, great minds think alike.

Waitaminute, "common sense" is a quality you associate with Wagner? And with the 'Ride of the Valkyries' in particular?

I mean, the Ring cycle rarely departs from the dementedly excessive, but that particular passage is extravagantly bonkers. As you may know, it's the bit where the big, scary, immortal chicks gather up all the dead warriors they've been collecting on the top of a mountain.

Admittedly, McDowell has in common with Wagner their well-rehearsed associations with Nazism, which are of varying degrees of silliness, but Wagner and "common sense"? Are you sure you don't mean Michael Nyman? Or Phil Coulter, even?

FG should be westlife, all inoffensive cover versions.

Surely McDowell deserves Queen's "One Vision?"
