Latest appointment in Obama Administration

I understand that political correctness is top priority and it is very important to have at least one gay.


But I don’t understand what is the reason to appoint
director of the Smithsonian’s National Zoo in Washington, D.C.
as
director of the Office of Personnel Management (i.e. guy which will be responsible to hire people into administration and keep them happy).

Is it mean that Obama is considering USA political establishment as animals, which deserved to be in zoo or we will have more surprises in his administration

The link isn't working but this one is. The next political glass-ceilings that will need to be smashed are getting a female and a gay president. It is a pleasant surprise to me that Bush appointed an openly gay man to any position. This is 2 gay appointments by Obama and that is a step in the right direction. Perhaps the pink-ceiling is now closer to being smashed, but probably not until the first woman president.

Presumably, and as you well know, he oversaw the hiring or HUMANS to work in the Zoo!!
