What was Bertie thinking on the morning of Jan 19th 1995?

The Taoiseach told the tribunal he couldn't say for certain when he got out of bed on the morning of January 19 th 1995 why he decided to take out the £50,000 in cash. But it was his money, he said.
Jaysus, Celia, just how much money can you spend on soft furnishings.

in all fairness, the consultants probably estimated that the soft furnishings would cost £3,000.

I know that on that date I was thinking of jacking in my secure and pensionable job in the bank that paid £11,527.00 p.a. and emigrating.....

That's an important point. The average gross industrial wage was £14,101 in 1995. Are we expected to believe that Ahern doesn't know what his intentions were with a sum of money that was almost four times the average gross industrial wage? And this so shortly after he alleges he needed a 'dig out' from his 'friends'? Total bullsh!t.

Knowing that he was going to withdraw four times the average gross industrial wage, I'd say he probably had the full Irish.

I noticed on a reconstruction on RTE Radio that Bertie called Celia ' my life partner'. Wonder what Miriam thought of that?

Seems he didnt have to get out of bed to talk to Celia.
