Friday Fun Thread. Is it time that Ireland convince Montserrat to join the Republic?

Known as the Emerald Isle of the Carribean, Montserrat is the only country (part of the UK overseas territory...for now) to officially celebrate St Patrick's day as a national holiday. This is due to the large numbers of Irish slaves who arrived from nearby islands after they took their chance at hell instead of Connacht.

Today, the people are of mixed background. One can still hear the Irish lilt amongst the older generation.
    See this TG4 documentary:

Anyway, why not send one of our 'leaders' over to invite them to join this wonderful nation of ours. Would be lovely place for holidays

We should all just go to the Caribbean and leave this government to pay the banks back themselves.

Oh look, it is partitioned, as the south, formerly a hive of activity, has been turned into an inhabitable wasteland..

No it doesn't. Read the Constitution. We are called 'Ireland'. Described as the Republic of Ireland, which lies on the island of 'Ireland'. I know that politics mixed with geography can be confusing but it ain't that hard.

I think he means one of two things.
either a) March 17th is a national holiday there but not for Paddys day itself
or b) Newfoundland and Labradore (sic) does...but that ain't a country no more.

nah. The Constitution, ratified by the Citizens of the Irish free State was approved and set out that the name of the State is Ireland. Fact.
