    The Politics.ie Dictionary.

    This is a thread to post words which often appear on this site but not in reality as per their meaning. Your task is to name as many as you can and give a brief humourus description of each. This will serve new members who become utterly confused. I'll start it off with a few.


    Lendahand. A derogatory term for a person who is bad at finance.
    Pravda. A term used interchangeably with the national broadcaster RTÉ.
    Rag. A shorthand nickname for a weekly Sunday newspaper.
    VeruKa. A politician who gets the Transport brief but is hated amongst some.

    Just a few obvious ones I forgot:

    Flounce. A typical rant which begins over the actions of a Mod.
    Cael. A loveable rogue who has captures the hearts of many yet disappeared into the red sunset.

    30%: The amount that needs to be "axed" (see above) from somebody else's income, to set this kip right...

    1%: The amount that I will under no circumstances pay from my own income, to bail out this kip. No way, Jose...

    Constantly Regurgitating: A dark Rasputin like economist who lives on the Vinnie show "A man in black with a Meinkamf look/ And a love of the rack and the screw" to quote Sylvia Plath

    This Kip: The Irish Republic

    Gombeens: All inhabitants of the above republic, except the poster

    Sheeple: People in a democracy whose voting pattern does not meet with the approval of the poster (May also mean people who refuse to "get off their arrses and burn this kip down")
