American drones to become popular in Iran

Expect to see young Iranians playing with minature US drones in the near future.

The US RQ-170 Sentinel stealth drone which was brought down by the Iranian military intact after it had violated Iranian airspace is set to become a hit boy for Persian kids. The toy will be 1/80 of the original size and cost about $4. Iran has refused to return the original spy drone to the US. However Iran will send one of the models to the White House in a gesture of good will.

With any bit of luck at all they may be able to build full scale replicas also, now would`nt that be fun?

Well they've got a sense of humour, you have to grant them that!

Anyone else picturing a bunch of bearded Mullah's sitting around sh1tting themselves with laughter when some bright spark came up with this idea?

That's not half as funny as Conor the Eejit's explanation of how it got there!

Interesting. Of course, if the Iranians use their heads, they may send several thousand of these flying 'Gestures of goodwill' to the White House - all arriving at once from different directions and under their own power. In the face of such an overwhelmingly generous onslaught of warm-hearted goodwill, you can be sure the Americans will be emotionally overcome, and, not wanting to be outdone, may well respond with some cuddly Intercontinental Ballistic gestures of their own...

That would not be hard. Just remove the cockpit from a WW2 Horten HO229 design which is freely available on the internet and replace it with a remote control unit and 'Viola' you have a full size drone, which you can add sensors and weapons to until you are content.

See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ho_229 for a 70 year old German design that is better designed than the US design, which is a bad rip of the original German design.
