Remarkably, although Lucinda Creighton is FG's spokesperson on European affairs, practically nothing has been heard of her so far in the Lisbon II debate.
Without Lucinda the Yes campaign may win this time. FG need to be persuaded to let her out. I've composed the following poem which I have sent to Enda Kenny. (Apologies to Patrick Kavanagh)
"On Raglan Road on an summer day I saw her and I knew
That her peroxide hair job could get the Lisbon Treaty through.
Born a bookie's daughter in east Mayo, nine years in Dublin Four,
She'd got the Prada sunglasses, she was ready to take on Coir.
On Grafton Street I saw her, as she chased Libertas lads away
Voices raised and banners waved, lucky she wasn't charged with affray.
And as for that statement that Ganley was a CIA funded neo-con
Twas easy forget the US of A was on record as supporting Lisbon.
It was only natural, when the electorate erred, to allocate blame for the vote
But her winning grimace and arresting charm are not the marks of a scapegoat.
She's waiting for you to give her the word, to have her come back and inspire
As you did those who went through your hands when a national teacher you were."
