I heard speculation that Mary Henry would not be standing again, this is nothing other than specualtion I have no hard information. She also got herself into trouble recently in the Seanad over asking questions about work visas on behalf of employment agencies that turn out be abusing the people they bring into the country!
what is the process for tcd nominations I wonder?
You need 2 nominations and 8 assentors from registered electors. Therefore, in effect you need 10 registered electors to sign your nomination papers. There is no requirement however for the candidate themselves to be a graduate of the University!

It doesn't agur well for your NUI bid KingKane if you did not know the answer to that question yourself.
I know that is the process of the NUI, just wasn't sure about TCD. After all they are two separate election panels, and I thought they might have a slightly different number required. I had looked online, not too hard mind, and hadn't come across anything specific.
Dan Sullivan. I was back but we still couldn't all have a vote.

Nomination procedure is the same for both panels!

Bacik intends running & targeting Henry's old seat. It's rumoured that Sean Barret is leery of running as Shane Ross already gets some of "his" type of vote. Apparently there is quite a strong green candidate but he'll have a tought time overtaking Bacik (even though she hardly needs the profile boost from election).
