Cross Party Support to democratise the Seanad

I have friends there, as I suspect most posters on this site have.

But in this day and age, we must ask about the whole privilege system.

In a true democracy, people justify the Seanad by saying it doesn't have any real executive power. But I think we should have open democratic Seanad elections for all seats, similar to the Dail. Who is with me?

Most? Really? No wonder there are people who defend it.

    Let's just abolish it.

I kinda agree...but would prefer to see it democratised like the Dail.

Scrap it. It serves no purpose. It's hard enough to justify what goes on in the Dail.

I agree, there are already too many TDs never mind senators. IF it really serves no purpose why even have it. If we are going to reform it at all lets reduce it by half before tinkering with how they are appointed.
