Can you guess how many accountants work in the the Dept of Health?

Can you guess how many accountants the Dept of Health has on its staff?

The multi-billion budget Department with over 400 employees, and responsibility for oversight of the HSE which is paid to protect the health of the nation, could be expected to know the importance of financial management. Professional accountants have a role there, at least in the normal world.

In the world of government Irish style, they do things differently.

You will be able to check how close you are with your guess here:

Why would Mary Harney's department need accountants?

They have hived off all the spending decisions to the HSE anyway.

They should all be posted to the department of social welfare and department of justice statute limitations sections.

More relevantly, why do they need 400 civil servants who do next to nothing?
