Gilmore,I think, just owns land there through family and rents it out, it doesn't make him a slum landlord or a magnate like Fahey, in fairness.

Senan Moloney was on Pat Kenny a while ago discussing this, he made the interesting point that they don't have to declare interests held by spouses, or transferred to spouses (there's no CAT on inter-spousal transfers at all, I believe). So the whole thing is a bit of a charade. He also mentioned, as referred to above, his noting that Beverley Flynn lists absolutely nothing...

Does that mean that Bev actually owns nothing herself or she has no other income from the headings??

a big fat NIL across every category in the list.

What did George Lee declare (or was he too late joining for this year's register?)? I know he has generally lived frugally and is averse to share ownership (not something I think Bev would understand readily)...

by the way can someone tell me what "faic" (trevor sargent put that down) and "tada" (eamon o cuiv put that one) mean ?

im presuming its the same as NIL as it was the same response in every section but i dont know for certain.

in fairness to bev though theres a whole slew of them which if you went by the declarations of others would seem to imply they dont even own a family home as they too put NIL in all headings !

gormely for instance has put down NIL for having no ocupational income, property and service , and land.

so i guess the dude is homeless, particularly compared to jackie healy rae who admints he's got a few sheep on his farm and lives in a pub.

TBH for the life of me i dont know why ALL of em dont put down their occupational income as being a TD. only a few have done that along with their other earnings.

the whole thing seems to be very amateurly done (and thats me being polite and not outright saying its not vetted properly)

sorry ive been away for a while.

managed to get a bog standard wordpad to look at the file in.

its not perfect so i only got the figures for 165 out of the 166 (the last being smeared all over the pad along with a whole heap of crap i presume was code for making the document look nice)

but i got the majority of em and it makes some interesting reading. particularly in the "occupational income " field

26 TDs entered "landlord" as their profession/principle income

18 were teachers

17 farmers

and a whopping 76 entered "nill"

i say this is interesting as 52 of em have registered themselves as having properties that their letting out. almost double the number fessing up theyre making a living from this as "landlords".

theres also bizarre revelations in regards to some fairly well known politicans. i didnt know richard bruton was a farmer yet its in here and the same goes for gilmore (whos renting the farm out) and pat rabbite.

if anyone can get a propper look at these figures i'd advise you to do so. its facinating stuff as the vast majority of the dail have some sort of interest in either rental income or land prices (i didnt even mention the number of em that have farm land and or spousal properties as TBH my eyes are going a bit mad after wading through what i have so far so i left "family homes/ used by a family member " etc stuff out altogether)

Thanks for the clarification. I wonder are they all as vague when it comes to filling in Revenue forms? Although Bev's mother couldn't remember that she owned a forest in North Mayo so it could be a hereditary problem?
