TD's don't really work, they have paid researchers and assistants to do that. TDs are merely for show a bit like the Queen of England. FF Ministers are good for little more than cutting ribbons, nothing more.
It's as if we have 166 Queen's of England in the Dail, drawing off the taxpayer, they are truely the equivalent of the French Nobility prior to the French Revolution, drawing off the state, looking after themselves and their friends and doing no work in return. At least the opposition are interested in working longer in the Dail.
FF meanwhile are merely a decadent crowd of useless parasites.
Thread on this already with same crap from FG last year and same previous year etc etc
Do TDs not have full-time constituency offices, full of staff (paid for with taxpayers money), to deal with constituency work? Why would the TDs presence be regularly required exactly?
Let's face it, if TDs were so 'incredibly overworked' it would not be necessary for others (FF-ers) to continuously point this out...it would be self evident. The truth is, most constituency offices are only open a max of two/three days a week and the TDs are rarely there anyway, leaving such mundane work to some aspiring flunkey. Is this emphasis on 'overworked' TDS some sort of mantra that if repeated often enough might be believed? Like the one about Cowen's mythical 'intelligence'...mythical as in non-existent...
What is it that TDs do with all their free time? Build property empires with their large salaries?
Anyhow, FF, keep playing the gombeen political game of long holidays and salary increases, but be prepared for a reaction from the real overworked people of Ireland...

Pauli, don't be so cynical! I applied for planning permission for a front porch and the thing was built, painted and whatever and weeks after completion I got a letter from Ivor Calally telling me he was happy to inform me that the permission was granted.
Apparently the TDs or their lackeys hang around City Hall looking at PP permissions so that they can "happily inform" the applicants of their good fortune.
I do not need to go to a TD for anything. There are offices for that. These guys promote their "hard and long hours" as a public service when all they are doing is trying to buy votes.
How I miss the Swiss political scene.
Ah sure the country's in a jocker, but we'll take our nice long X-mas break, faff around with mini budget thingies (sure there's no need for a proper budget), bang on about waiting for the tax commission reporting in September 2009, (oh, hold on there is a need for a budget and for taxes), point out to people that it's not in any way our fault (it's a global thingy) or responsibilty (why don't they pick on the opposition?), take a nice 3 grand rise (are the Feb figures really that bad?) and sure we'll take 12 days at Paddy's day while we're at it, because THAT'S what's good for the country....

Ah but the best one of all from D'Ivor was the letters he sent to two neighbours one to the applicant saying if there was anything he could do to help them secure the planning application he would and the other to the neighbour saying that if there was anything he could do to help should they wish to object he would. It so happened the neighbours were quite friendly so they happen to mention the letters to each other. Talk about playing both sides of the field.
Dan Sullivan. I was back but we still couldn't all have a vote.

I couldn't care less if he was in Timbuktu as long as it's not at taxpayers' expense, in fact my local FF TD would probably not be let in. They can all stick their heads in a bucket of water as far as I'm concerned, it would make a change from sand. This is just bizarre stuff, the whole P's Day thing is completely OTT. Apparently a load of PS's such as county managers are headin off to the States even this yr at public expense. Hopefully some journo will query the cost under FOI. No wonder the budget was put back to 7th April.
Well the Mary Coughlan said everything is under control a small while back.
Its only a chat, we ain't the world council.
In 2000 the Women's Institute in Britain gave Tony Blair the slow hand clap to demonstrate their contempt.
It was dignified, restrained and effective.Doesn't Bertie deserve the same scorn. No shouting, no abuse, no agression just a relentless slow clap whenever he speaks in public would be enough to end that man's presidential fantasy.
