And I will appear before the Oireachtas, and I promise not to abscond like a thief in the night with a preposterously huge pension without accounting for my actions.

And you know what, I reckon the vast majority of people in this country would take the same terms and conditions too, and also do a better job than those in situ now and in recent times.
Did you get called for the interview JC?

    Anyone have details?

How is this consistent with promises from various government sources that bankers pay would be capped. I know it must be but just can't quite see it at the moment.

The legislation to allow the ring fenced national pension fund to be raided to prop up the banks for another bit passed no bother.
Any other government would be demanding the heads of those responsible but not the two Brians.
The Bankers wont be touched. Their pay is as safe as Dublin Castle.

First they came for the bankers...

A totally stupid idea which never should have been proposed, let along voted on. If TDs want caps on pay then look at their own.

All part of the government's desperate and transparent distraction tactic. Focus popular anger on the bankers, in the hope we will forget who was actually in charge.

FG are having a pop on bankers' pay caps, saying FF and GP are split, while also saying GP are posturing. Hard to see how both charges can stick. Gotta settle for one guys.

FG claims Coalition split on bank salary cap - The Irish Times - Sun, Mar 08, 2009

The Green Party and Fianna Fail are split over whether bankers’ salaries should be capped, it was claimed tonight.

Greens leader John Gormley insisted in his televised address to his party’s convention that the Government will set lower limits for the pay of executives.

However, Fine Gael today claimed that Finance Minister Brian Lenihan is not as committed on the issue as the Greens believe and TD Phil Hogan accused Mr Gormley of posturing in front of the TV cameras.
