    Absurd nonsense.

Lenihan is doing a great job in the circumstances. You cannot make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

Meanwhile on News Talk this morning, I heard it claimed that the Gov't, particularly Fianna Fáil, don't have a mandate to govern because of the finacial crisis.
Strangely, the voters voted in a manner that did give the present encumbents a mandate to govern.

The question that comes to mind is, if this is a true statement (lack of mandate), does it mean that every time there is a crisis we should hold an election?

Lenihan's resigning would be in the interest of Kenny - a failed school teacher and one time tourism minister. Kenny has staggeringly low confidence ratings in the latest poll, Labour made all the gains.

It is thanks to Kenny's abysmal performance as FG leader that we got Bertie back in the last election.

Kenny is a failure and the time is long since past when he should have resigned in the national interest.

WTF??? Are you SERIOUS??!!!! Lenihan is a fluckwit who couldn't organise a pissup in a brewery with the taps on... and YOU think he's doing a great job??? Cop the f on with yourself!!

Lenihan has had plenty of time at this stage to have formulated a plan for national recovery but to date we have nothing. We have the department of Finance who say we needed to save 2bil this year, 4 bil next year, 4 bil the year after and then another 3 bil after that. Step one was ballsed when they got the maths wrong and managed to (I'll believe it when I see it) save 1.4bil. They haven't a clue what to do on step two, and even more worrying is the fact that the dept of finance hasn't gotten a maths problem right in over 10 years so we probably need anoher 6bil savings on top of those already anounced!

Meanwhile on News Talk this morning, I heard it claimed that the Gov't, particularly Fianna Fáil, don't have a mandate to govern because of the finacial crisis.

This is different. They were elected based on a lie and to make matters worse, I have read that they restricted the oppositions access to the public finances (although I don't know if its true) so that they could not have offered a realistic manifesto.
When a governemnt is exposed of committing what has to be fraud in order to rob an election they should not only be removed and banned from politics but they should be investigated and arrested for their crimes. Of course in the banana republic (and they are right internationally - this IS the banana republic) that could never happen.

How can you be a failed school teacher?? I had a teacher in school (Fine Fail man of course) who was a known alcoholic and who came in drunk every couple of weeks and even he couldn't be fired. Of course the pr1ck was the mayor of the town at one stage.

Kenny has pointed out on more than one occasion the folly of FF policy and the electorate chose not to listen. That just proves how retarded 40% or so of Irish people are and little more. But I suppose you want another moromn with mass appeal to take his place??
And as for "let the public sector alone" Gilmore - well that just serves to prove my point.

Never fear, cutting out Special Needs education will save the day. Meanwhile the developer's tax breaks continue as normal.

An half competent idiot could point out the follies of FF policy

You are right that Kenny doesn't have mass appeal, nor does he have much intellectual firepower or personal drive.

Kenny attacking Lenihan in this bizarre manner just seeks to remind us of how limited a person he is.

I dont see that it was bizarre given that Lenihan tried to use patriotism to cover his govt's shortcomings. As to whether Kenny is intelligent or not is another point which I couldn't really comment on as I have never met the man - it is quite true though that he often comes across very badly in interviews.

Ahem. shakes head and slowly backs away.
Well either its true or it isn't. As for the election campaign, only an idiot cannot see that it was won on lies, more lies and spin. Remember Cowen's, the property market is strong seach on Q&A??
Quite frankly, the only rational explanation I can come up with for why nobody highlighted the trouble we were in is that is was concealed. Either that or the opposition didn't want power and, knowing FF were going to win, wanted to pull them into making as many unachievable promises as possible so that they could be destroyed during the next term.

And I beieve it was this site or boards where I read it and nobody was able to deny it.
