Minister for State at the Department of Finance Brian Hayes has defended the expense claims of TDs, saying politics is not a cheap business.
Their sense of entitlement is breathtaking!

From the 9th March 2011 (when EK was elected) to 16th December 2011 (Xmas break) the Dáil sat for a total of 99 days. €6,000,000 in expenses is €60,606.06 per sitting day or €365.10 per TD per sitting day. It's also an average of €36,144.58 per TD for all of 2011.

When interviewing people for a position at the company, some might ask about buses, or say their living in ..... Is there anyone from there they could ask for a spin in and out,or be put on the same shift as .....the answer which should be the same for T.Ds " if you get the job, how you get in and home is not our problem , the start time is and the end of the shift is such and such and we would expected you to be on time"
Most workers pay to get in and out of work, travel long distances and pay for their own lunches, calls and coffee and of course pay for their own dry cleaning! And they do it without lecturing others on their value of work or telling others to tighten their belts , while in a year claiming above the average industrial wage in expenses!
What do the TDs do with their huge pay packet?

And we should add, many who endure the above are in roles which are equally important for job creation and the regeneration of our economy. Its not only the TDs who are attracting business here and donning the green jersey, far from it.

Everyone knows expenses claims are just another way of perking up your salary , that civil servant travel expenses thingy is a joke , think of figure and then think up some imaginery journeys to write down. Politicians are always on the take , you'd think the 160 grand yearly salary is enough.

and now they are trying to stop their expenses claims being made available to the Public. I wonder why !!
