Stephen Donnelly TD Where has this man been?

I most say that Stephen Donnelly has been the stand out TD of this Dail.
Seems to have a great grasp of the issues.

Just lastnite he put Creighton in her place

It was the most straightforward explantion, I have heard, of how much as mess we are in.

Our interest repayments (€8bn p.a.) + applying the 1/20th rule to get back to 60% debt to GDP (€5bn p.a.) is equivilant to our income tax receipts (€13bn). We won't raise corporation tax and VAT is already at 23% - so where will State sponsored growth come from? (and furthermore how will any decent public services be funded?).

unfortunately for us, the longer he is in the Dail the more his facts will become BS. The Dail chews you up sooner or later.

He writes for some of the print media as well. Lets hope we see more of him over the next month on other shows. He may not be infallible but he certainly knows more what he is talking about than anyone else.

Yourself and anyone else who gave him a vote in Wicklow deserve our thanks. Dail procedure can destroy a person like him.

Absolutely the best new TD in years, I was paying attention to him prior to the last election, he seemed to be making a lot of sense, not spouting the usual parochial politics so prevalent in Ireland, therefore I assumed not enough of the electorate would give him the vote.

The voters of Wicklow proved to be above that and, I for one, am very glad he's in there.

I hope he has a long and productive career in Irish politics, we could use a few more with his vision and ability.

I won't listen to any news broadcasts in case a politician comes on but I heard Donnelly on the Moncrieff show on Newstalk a few months ago. He was funny, articulate, seems to have brains to burn and he dispenses with all the bullsh!t. I actually stopped the car to listen.

Stephen Donnelly TD has been impressive from day one. He can clearly use his critical faculties to see how moronic this latest deal is, unlike Lucinda Creighton and most others in the Dail, who are neither a thinkers nor leaders, but are clearly 2 dimensional nobodies who would not be missed if they left politics. It's hard to see how Lucinda Creighton is not deliberately putting her loyalty to Europe above her loyalty to Ireland- everything from her weak answers to the look and tone of contempt she has for any real questions, shows that she clearly thinks that the Irish people are dumb peasants who need to knowtow to our wise European masters, in spite of the fact that the leaders of Europe have shown themselves to be totally incapable of handling this crisis. The problem though is that politics seems to attract these types, the ones who immediately cozy up to whatever establishment exists, to such a degree that it is not that they represent us, but that they lie to us on behalf of the establishment. Politics really does seem to attract some disgusting human beings, so it is nice at least to see that Donnelly is doing his job.

We need more TDs like Stephen Donnelly who have not been teachers before becoming politicians and who have relevant work experience and qualifications to bring to the role.

For example the key role of Minister of Finance is occupied by a teacher and one of his special advisers I am told by someone who works in the Dail is his former secretary who has no financial qualifications or experience!
