Stephen Donnelly TD Where has this man been?

I most say that Stephen Donnelly has been the stand out TD of this Dail.
Seems to have a great grasp of the issues.

Just lastnite he put Creighton in her place

We need more TDs like Stephen Donnelly

This will only happen if voters stop electing the village big wig/idiot, publican, teacher, solicitor and/or the offspring from the local political dynasty who believes he/she has a right to rule because politics is the family business etc...

We won't get a better calibre of TD if we keep voting for the sh!te people tend to vote for...

As an Indpendent TD, what should he be doing instead? (I've asked you this question on 2 threads where you've made the exact same point).

As an independent TD who seems to know what he is talking about, he should be giving gobsh*tes like Wallace, Ming et al a wide berth or he will get himself a bad name.

I didn't see this on VinB but i take it from reading all the above posts he was very good. And to be fair he is usually articulate and to the point. I have on major issue though. And this is the reason why Baldy is so good as Minister for Finance... It is he's a top quality politician... at playing politics and plating total politics... the political equivalent to playing Brazils Total football.. (Or was that the dutch..?!) Anyway... Donnelly for all his worth, cannot master politics at all.. He's there a year now and is still quite raw.. One of his major flaws in this regard is being outside of a party... Politics is, like it or not all about the party... the party is fundamental.. For all our sakes Donnelly needs to realize this and if he does needs to take action and actually set up his own party with hopefully a bunch of similar like minded people to him.. Some of which for that partys progression will need to be in the Dail and others who will be guaranteed of getting into the Dail in 2016...

I find he's full of easy answers, opposes everything real. He's grand at analysing things, but sure as George Lee in particular found that's easy, but when it comes to real solutions I find him completely lacking. I have to say I've found himself and Shane Ross to be very disappointing. I thought they might be a new type of Independent, actually engaging and trying to work with the government and through the Dail to find solutions, but they haven't been. In reality, there has been very little difference between themselves and Higgins and Boyd Barrett, except their rhetoric is a bit different.

As an Independent TD, if Donnelly wants to get Dail time to put a question to the government, he has to be part of a technical grouping.
Otherwise, the chance to put questions would be greatly diminished.

It would make absolutely no sense for Donnelly, as an Independent TD, to remain unaligned in that circumstance.

As an Independent TD, what would you have him do instead?

Lucinda's job is to spoof for the government. If she actually agreed with Simon Donnelly; she'd catch it in the neck from her party leader.

One thing became clear from watching Lucinda Creighton; this crisis is too big for our elected spoofers to spoof their way out of it.
