Hypocrisy Hypocrisy Hypocrisy! Fuel prices CAN rise but not for burning bondholders!?

What a difference a day in politics makes!

Remember yesterday when Leo said we cannot burn bondholders because
Asked why the bonds were being repaid, he said:"They are being repaid because the Government had to weigh up the costs on the one side and the risks on the other."There were, however, potential "serious costs" associated with not paying the money.

"This is a State company (Anglo/IBRC) and if we defaulted it would have implications for other State companies like ESB and Bord Gáis," he added.

Now today, we can face higher heating bills because Eamon followed the EU stance
Mr Gilmore said there was no doubt that the embargo would have an impact on oil prices, but it was difficult to quantify just how much petrol, diesel and home heating oil would increase by.
"While this is clearly an issue for consumers, the expected price increase has to be weighed against the seriousness of the problem of Iran's nuclear programme."

Harrump! So the savings we were making yesterday on heat costs (by not burning unguaranteed bondolders) are being taken away today by supporting the sanctions on Iran.

Ah well, I've come to expect as much.

Gilmore has morphed into the pantomime puppet you'll see at the Christmas panto. Like de Rossa, the former radical has donned the sheepskin coat and taken the soup.

And to think that it might have been 'Labour's way' . . .

Gilmore has neither morals or principles.... What has Iran ever done to him or any of us. Polititians, when they get together are like gangsters' bagmen...bully boys all.

Isn't it just as well that Gilmore is on €184,405 (and expenses to boot) per annum.

Hmm! Now they will rake in windfall taxes due to the enormous tax/vat/excise rip-off due to the Iran hiccup, at the very least they should reduce the excise duty in line with the rise in fuel prices to keep Ireland competitive but of course being total quisling $uckwits they won't
