    Oireachtas dress code

Barrett wants TDs to smarten up and stop swearing for TV - The Irish Times - Tue, Jan 03, 2012

This is an undue violation of the freedom of expression of our public representatives. Nobody elected Ming to wear a jacket, and the choice of any deputy not to do so is valid. There is no reason for such a rule, other than the personal preferences of a privileged OAP from Dún Laoghaire, which is not grounds to violate other people's free expression.

Agree. Let Barrett wear his blue shirt and Wallace his pink shirt.

Let the public decide on "What not to wear" at the ballot box if they feel it's actually an issue.

I think it is the same as though you were invited to any formal occassion. You would not turn up to a wedding or a funeral in a pink shirt and khaki trousers.

this is the kind of crap that really peeves people.. the country is falling down around us and all Barrett wants to do is sort out a dress code. Does he really think most people care what a TD is wearing?

Its the same crap over and over again... these people are so far removed from normal people it is unreal.

This hasnt changed since FG/Labour got into power either and won't

Barrett is from that wing of FG that likes uniforms !

More worrying is his proposal that questions are chosen by lottery ..given the government majority it essentially means a reduction in the opportunity of the opposition(s)to ask questions

Given his constant haranguing and interruption of opposition questions its obvious Barett sees his role as defender of the Government rather than ensuring an accountable Dail

    Worst CC ever

If these morons would just do their job and even pretend they are trying to get us out of the economic mess we are in, they can wear the hell they want.

The issue isn't what trunks you are wearing, but the fact Barrett and other politicians are up to their neck in envelopes, unsolicited cheques, memory failures of financial matter and other such shady behaviour.

I think its ironic that while clothes do not necessarily maketh the man, Mick Wallace dresses like an idiot and actually is an idiot too.
