That's obviously your problem. Don't judge a book by its cover, doing so exposes how shallow you are. So long as these guys do their job, that's the most important thing.

Its the same crap over and over again... these people are so far removed from normal people it is unreal.

This hasnt changed since FG/Labour got into power either and won't
Barrett is the Ceann Comhairle - by definition he must not get involved in policy matters, his job is to basically police the chamber.

Sorry there Clanrickard, it's actually facile that what one wears would have any bearing on their ability to do a job.

These people are elected representatives, if their constituents are happy with them wearing what they do then everyone else should butt out. What if one of them decides not to wear the new dress code, will the democratic will of the people be trumped by the Ceann Comhairle insisting they wear a suit?

Exclusionist ************************e. People don't even wear suits to interview in my line of work and some of the most competent in the tech industry are very alternative in their choice of dress, it's mostly not suits.

The fact that someone dress like a tramp is evidence that they are not doing their job.

    What wing is that?

More worrying is his proposal that questions are chosen by lottery ..given the government majority it essentially means a reduction in the opportunity of the opposition(s)to ask questions
Are you sure? Isn't Dail time already allocated proportionately between government and opposition?

Given his constant haranguing and interruption of opposition questions its obvious Barett sees his role as defender of the Government rather than ensuring an accountable Dail

    Worst CC ever
Actually, he's already considered to be one of the best. There are rules in the chamber, he knows them, and he comes down on those from all sides of the House who break them. Try watching for an hour or two sometime.

Is a bit of decorum not too much to ask for in our Dail? Wearing a jacket would hardly kill them.

Can you explain to me why you think someone in a shirt and tie is dressed any better than somebody dressed in Jeans and Tee-shirt? This is the bit I can not understand, it seems to me that to equate a persons worth with their adherence to what is essentially a modern 'fashion' would be the 'childish attitude'. Possibly even a symptom of a poorly developed intellect, or can you enlighten me?

A tramp? Keep digging. If they don't wear a suit, it doesn't mean they aren't doing their job. Just like if they are wearing suits doesn't mean they are doing their jobs. Can you not see how stupid your argument is?

I don't. I don't know many who do apart from customer facing employees and even at that in many places (including many multinationals) its fairly lax. Smart casual is enough in most places,.
