Hmm, most of the FF candidates appear to be former TDs...

Rebelman has added the inside FF panel nominees so I'll add the existing Senators seeking re-election to the Seanad on Outside panels of the five panels.

Administrative: Tony Kett, Camillus Glynn and Diarmuid Wilson. Timmy Dooley was elected to the Dáil. Both FG Senators Frank Feighan and Joe McHugh were also elected to the Dáil as was Joanna Tuffy.

Cultural & Educational: All 3 sitting FF Senators: Ann Ormonde, Paschal Mooney and Labhras O Murchu are seeking re-election. Both sitting FG Senators Brian Hayes and Noel Coonan got elected to the Dáil.

Agricultural: Peter Callanan, Francie O'Brien and Jim Walsh are all seeking re-election. Rory Kiely is retiring and Eamon Scanlon and Martin Mansergh both got elected to the Dáil. FF are assured of five seats here and have a good shot at 6 especially given the nature of some Independent Cllrs and the Green and PD electorate. I assume Paul Bradford and John Paul Phelan are both seeking re-election and that Burke chap from Mayo for the Blueshirts. Kathleen O'Meara retiring.

Labour: Geraldine Feeney, John Gerard Hanafin and Terry Leyden are seeking re-election. Liam Fitzgerald is retiring and I understand so to is Brendan Daly. Fitzgerald would have not got near the vote he got in 2002 in any case. Don Lydon is apparently at present without a nomination. Other candidates on this Panel include Ned O'Sullivan from Kerry and Shane Cassells from Meath. No word as of yet to the possible Shinner candidate on this Panel.
Jim Higgins assumed to be retiring but am not sure if the other sitting Blueshirts are seeking re-election. Labour assured 1 seat here, 5 FF and 4 FG with a dogfight for the last between FF/FG and SF on the outside rails.

Industrial & Commercial: Eddie Bohan is retiring and the idiotic Margaret Cox committed treason so 2 seats are vacant at a minimum. Marc MacSharry, Mary White and Kieran Phelan are all seeking re-election. Denis O'Donovan from Cork is running here as is Brian O'Domhnaill from Donegal and Larry Butler from Dublin. I understand some members of the Ard Chomhairle are also running here including Pat O'Meara. I heard Hugh Dolan is running on a Panel but not sure which one. FF will win 4 seats here and have a decent shot at the fifth seat given the nature of bloc voting by other parties. If they drop to 4 seats FG will win 4. Paul Coghlan and Sheila Terry are running again for FG. They have a vacancy following the election of James Bannon to the Dáil.

I read in last weeks local papers that Sth Tipp co. cllr, Rodgie Kennedy was seeking a nomination from the Irish Thoroughbred Association.

Can anyone confirm if he was nominated and is a candidate or not ?

Does anybody know if sf, greens, pds, others or indos are running any one? Are we missing anyone from the names we have so far ? Also in relation to these smaller parties is there any voting pacts in play this time like the DL/PD one a few elections back.

Paudge Connolly is running on either the Labour or Agricultural Panels, I think Labour. No word yet of any SF candidate, most likely they would only contest Labour and Agricultural if they run at all now. Greens and PDs are assumed not to be contesting the Panels. As they will be in line for nominations I would suggest being pragmatic about it they should vote for FF candidates for the Panels and then hope to be rewarded by the Taoiseach as the PDs were in 1997 and 2002.

General, Any idea who nominated Paudge Connolly. I agree with your point regarding the greens and PDs but I haven't heard a murmour of anything being nailed down as part of an agreement that's why I asked the question. I would be surprised if SF do not throw their hat in at least one ring although it would be a big ask for them without a pact in place, I believe they currently have 56 votes which means they would probably need a good 30 on top of that.

Only heard yesterday Connolly was running. Not sure who nominated him. SF can count on 58 votes with maybe the Workers Party Cllrs (2) and some pliant Independents (2), 1 in Offaly and one in Louth. Other than that I'm not sure. It would have suited them had the Greens not done a deal with FF.

Incidentally a vote pact between PD and Green cllrs/TDs may be unwritten rather than publicised. I'm not sure if the 2002 pact between FF and PD was publicised very widely at the time.
