President speaks of ‘troubled times’ for Irish people - TV3

In his first Christmas message from his new luxury palace located in the vast [707 hectare] government owned centre city estate of rolling parkland. Irish President Michael D Higgins, sent best wishes to his subjects at home and abroad - during what he said were troubling and testing times, for so many.

It is only a number of weeks since Michael D Higgins and his wife Sabina moved into their new luxury palace.

In a separate interview with Vincent Browne, an elderly local labour supporter and retired media baron, he and his wife Sabina have also spoken of how they miss their home in Galway.

[The Irish president in admitting this grave affliction has as a consequence deeply identified himself with his suffering subjects]

However the family is now looking forward to spending its first Christmas in Dublin.
Much joy is expected as the entire OHiggins extended family hope to play many amusing games etc in their new palace and its hoped that younger family members will remember to treat with due consideration the large retinue of palace staff on permanent standby for these joyous occasions.

In agreeing to actually speak whilst in residence from his luxurious palace rooms its expected the Irish president will have offered additional immense consolation and hope to his suffering subjects.

It is also expected that the Irish deputy prime minister and fellow upholder of the rights of the poor and underpriviledged will send cordial Christmas greetings to his Labour party colleague Mr O Higgins.

Rumour has it that in a gesture of solidarity with the suffering Irish people toasts this Christmas at the presidential palace will not be drunk in champagne.

Im posting this thread in the hope that posters can join in the lovely celebrations and atmosphere of seasonal warmth generated by these heroic new leaders that providence has so kindly blessed the Irish with.

    All comments welcome.
I'm glad you welcome comments so here's mine. I found your observations patronising to our Head of State and, by inference, insulting to the Irish people. I am no apologist for President Higgins but the Irish people elected him and as such he is worthy of a modicum of respect. You showed none and your criticisms were at the level of the worst of the gutter press.

Can you really empathize with a person and know how they are feeling, if you were never in that position yourself? It be like saying to a burns victim, I can feel your pain and I know what it is like to be disfigured, without actually being able to appreciate what its like to suffer burns or to be disfigured. Maybe, the more accurate descriptor is that he can sympathize with his subjects.

Subjects??? You are treating the FM's rant as if it is worthy of serious critical analysis. Subjects?? This is a republic for God's sake.

I expect this means that you have an intelligence and emotional level almost matching that of the incredibly fantastic and deeply deeply sympathetic Irish president.

I dont know for a fact if the deeply deeply sympathetic and astoundingly fantastic Irish president used this word in his massive Christmas blessing to the poor and needy delivered from his palace.

You are mistaken to think I implied that the deeply deeply fantastic and astonishingly mighty Irish president used this word.

My post is merely describing the wonderful gift this mighty man is bestowing on the Irish people by speaking to them of their and his deep sufferings.

The Irish president has full understanding of their plight having had to leave his own home to take up residence in his [for him] new presidential palace and also having to brave cold December nights all for the love of his people.

I am shocked that you would speak in such disrespectful tones of the massively sympathetic Irish president.

Please point out where I have criticised or disrespected him.

    Ireland is now token republic.

The elite public service and their government leaders will all make merry with the new Irish president in his luxury palace this Christmas while their plebian subjects : the tax paying workers in the private sector will just drink their plain gruel.

It is said that President OHiggins may even drink some gruel at Christmas dinner to further his identification with his suffering subjects.
There is no end to the infinite empathy of this heroic Irish president.
