I'm sure your opinions were foremost in the minds of Gilmore et al when they made those decisions. "What would that anonymous p.ie poster Desperate Dan do..?" Gilmore would have pondered.

The Mahon Tribunal found Olivia Mitchell to have received an inappropriate payment from Frank Dunlop at the time of the 1992 Election. F.G. Gael has taken no action against her.

I agree, but Willie O'Dea was also promoted in his day for doing as little.

    Now that I agree with.

Wonder if the Labour old guard are becoming cautious of the Young Turks in the party at this stage.

The advantage that Shorthall had by being a woman was offset by sitting on a safe seat (if such will exist, in the next election for Labour). O'Sullivan is highly vunerable to SF. Based on the latest opinion poll, SF would take her seat. She probably only has a personal vote of arounf 4.5k. Not a lot to show for 13 years plus in Leinster House.

It isn't the young Turks in Labour they need to worry about, but the young Turks in SF. These promotions will do nothing of benefit for Labour in the longer term.
