Got to agree with you there.Alot of people died to have us govern ourselves. The least the clowns could do is show some respect for them by dressing accordingly.

The suit is the uniform of the enemy worn by banksters and other assorted corporatist Mafioso and their lackeys.

That TD's have time to waste in making them compulsory shows both their authoritarian fascist tendency and their contempt for the real work that the Dáil needs to be doing and the people that work needs to be done on behalf of.

The last lot wore suits and they screwed the country, this be-suited lot will screw it some more.

Not before time. We're talking about a national legislature here, not some informal event. If I'm representing my company I'm expected to dress appropriatly. The TDs are representing the people and poor dress sense should not be permitted. It's not like we're not paying them enough for a decent suit or two.
The Mahon Tribunal found Olivia Mitchell to have received an inappropriate payment from Frank Dunlop at the time of the 1992 Election. F.G. Gael has taken no action against her.

A simple shirt would suffice accompanied by a sports jacket, tony Gregory at least had respect for his parliament.

Forget suits and ties, why not make it a uniform. We could then act like the Chinese before capitalism took over?

this would be my first thoughts too.

its a clear infringment on the constitutional right to free expression and not matter what else you can say about wallace and co their dress IS a political statement .

    i.e we're not THOSE ************************************s over there.

and seeing as their constituants voted for them KNOWING what manner of dress they chose theres a case for them chosing to put them in there EXPECTING them to make that statement so the dail will be guilty of denying the electorate its choice of representative.

typical of the snobby idiots in FG/FF/LAB to not know what a landmine this issue is. but i guess thats what ya get when ya put so many school teachers in the place.

watch this get shot down the day someone is kicked out of the dail for their attaire and it goes to court.

Ooooh look at the scruffy TD!

I wouldn't care if they dressed like batman as long as they get the country going again, a waste of time and effort when there are much more serious matters to deal with.

    Prioritize gentlemen, prioritize not patronize.

I agree. Expecting others to reduce to your own level of scruffiness is selfcentred nonsense.

    thats not the point.

the point is the consitutional entitlement to put in dail eireann the person the electorate want.

if we suddenly had a massive naturalsit movement and they elected a bloke to the dail to do his job bollock naked thats their right.

the other parties would have no right to remove him from the house for being naked as thats the platform he got elected on and the supreme court would overule any house rules that tried it.
