The Story.ie publish 2009 TD donations Spreadsheets.

The Story.ie blog doesn't do the MSM friday Newsdump; but a searchable and interesting
archive of articles that are linked here on the Politics.ie blogroll.

These spreadsheets will be updated soon with the Senators and MEPs:

Theres also a Handy link to copy them onto your Facebook page if you're signed up!
Of course our media do not put so much thought into the investigative end of the
job, the dividends of that are blatantly obvious for most of us. There hasn't been
anything like this in Ireland : http://parliament.telegraph.co.uk/mpsexpenses/home
(fair play to the guys for putting some research time into this)

It's 2009 donations Christine, not expenses but well worth a look as usual with Gavin and Co.

    Nothing to see. Move on

Its the brown envelope donations that appear in Berties account that we really want to hear about, and any other politicians for that matter.

Did he ever disclose any of those

BIFFO might need to increase his make-up budget.

    Short, round & balding......................not a great combination.

Might need some singing lessons too

interestingly, some media in Engurland went all out on investigating the very thing
of which we speak , rather than going on happy-slappy junkets... but back to
    the OP (sigh)

We're working on an expenses spreadsheet. Some months ago we published a spreadsheet for all recorded donations since the inception of the donations system. That's at the link below.

FYI - I've never been a member of a political party, Mark J. Coughlan, the ex-PD, is another person.

It is evident to me, applying logic and experience, that Ahern is an important regional player for a number of powerful interests. A small one no doubt, but an important regional player nonetheless. Ireland is important to a number of people and for a number of reasons: it is important to Britain, it is important to NATO, it is important to the europeans, its fisheries are important, its geopolitical positioning is important, it is important to American multinationals.

Ireland gave up articles 2&3, which history may prove to be the foundation on which a perpetual british presence on this island was established and legitimised. This country has undergone an enormous wave of anglocentricism during Ahern's tenure. This has facilitated the opening up of ireland in a big way to british economic interests. Ahern's government has been very accomodating of british interests in ireland's offshore resources, which resources were mapped until 2004 by the british hydrographic survey - ireland had no hydrographic survey and relied on the british for this service to map and learn about their own domain.

There are any number of interests which would have found Ireland lucrative to exploit over the past decade to the tune of billions and having a handy poltical leader who is cheap to buy would have facilitated these interests enormously.

Ahern gives every evidence of having facilitated moneyed interests throughout his tenure. There is no reason to suppose those interests were solely restricted to domestic ones. The terms of the tribunal were set by him to cover planning only, so payments above and beyond that, in different currencis, are not meant to fall within its ambit.

The question that should be asked, by anyone exercising logic as well as loudly by the journalists of this country, is: 'Who bought my Taoiseach and for what purpose?'
