Instead of listing failures of accountability (which are legion), might it not be more efficient to list examples of accountability instead?

    A much shorter list.

politicians accepting responsibility for their actions, is a rare event in Ireland.

But I cannot think of any Irish politician who has accepted accountability on an issue.

there is only one solution. we can rant and rave as much as we like. this is what the politicians want. get mad but not too mad. we need mass demonstrations to get rid of this shower once and for all. they are a disgrace. we need someone to lead us to a new place. a place where everyone is equal, where all have a chance ,and not the golden circles, the bankers ,developers etc. so is there someone out there that is is so fed up with what is happening and can lead this nation to a new beginning please make a presence, i will definitely go on a march anywhere, anytime.

I was always led to believe that there are consequences for actions but when it comes to Ireland there never seems to be consequences for any actions. From the top down to those who regulate nobody is ever held accountable. They are too fond of shifting blame to other persons - our recession is due to the collapse in the banking sector and this is global. Politicians are never held accountable, whether we have Mary Harney making well judged slips about CJ that obviously would and did prejudice fair trial, to JOD and Trevor who takes clientelism to a new level by interfering in the judicial process. The HSE is not accountable and those that it funds are also not accountable.

Being accountable goes against the grain of being Irish I guess.
