    Amen to that.

Today's announcement makes me think back to Primetime a few weeks ago, when Lee and Wee Willie were in studio with Miriam O'Callaghan. Lee tried to make some points, and the idiot from Limerick behaved as normal, shouting down arguments and talking over everyone else. The look on Lee's face showed how unhappy he was to be in the situation, trying to have a debate with a prize gobsh1te.

George Lee resigned as a TD and from Fine Gael . That too is an act of courage. He is acknowledging that he made a mistake. In Irish society admitting that you made a mistake is almost unique.

Already the howling critics are slavering and snapping.

George Lee I have never met you -- you have set a standard of honesty in Irish Politics-- I thank you.
George Lee as a staff member of RTE took leave of absence with a guaranteed job if he returned within twelve months, hardly that courageous.

Constituency clinics are the arterio-sclerosis of Irish politics. A total and complete waste of f***ing time

No, it takes real cajones to knuckle down and do the hard, unglamorous work for the long-term benefit of your constituents and your country. Going crying to the media because others don't think you are as amazingly awesome as you think you are does not take cajones

It's problematic. I firmly believe GL wanted to serve his country. But Fine Gael parked the newbie out of petty politics - they should have had him on every tv, radio broadcast over the past 9 months, he could have handed FF their power-bloated asses back to them.

given that he said tonight with Brian dobson that the last thing he wanted was to be on every TV,radio broadcast and that FG were "using" him like that.................?

Something here is just not weighing up for me..............after seeing the interview on the 6 news .....there is more to this than meets the eye thats for sure... it is personal.

He did appear on many TV programmes and unfortunately he didn't hand FF their power-bloated asses back to them, he performed reasonably well but never delivered a killer soundbite or wiped the floor with any Government representative.
It's one thing to deliver a piece to camera with no interruptions, having prepared and honed your words before hand and completely different to be a participant in a debate "moderated" by the likes of Vincent Browne, etc.
