Yeah, George should have made all the decisions in the Dail.

He is a celebrity, after all. What more do people want?

George Lee resigned his position at RTE to enter politics .That was an act of courage.

George Lee resigned as a TD and from Fine Gael . That too is an act of courage. He is acknowledging that he made a mistake. In Irish society admitting that you made a mistake is almost unique.

Already the howling critics are slavering and snapping.

George Lee I have never met you -- you have set a standard of honesty in Irish Politics-- I thank you.

    Eh????

He didn't need the votes. He was an elected TD who resigned as TD because he didn't look like getting a serious exectutive post. He never has any intention in the representation of the constituents who elected him. I'm very disapointed.

He hasn't said anywhere that he 'made a mistake'.

He's said that FG and the Dail aren't good enough for him.

This story isn't over yet, not by a long shot. Lee resigned on the basis that he had no input into party policy, not that he himself had made a mistake by taking the job.

If Lee takes a cushy number in RTE then I think he looks like a coward. But if he were to lay bare the negative experience he endured, then maybe he'll emerge with more credibility.

You know, maybe it is time that constituency clinics be left to the hired-help - the civil servants in the relevant departments. Maybe it is time to demand of our TD's that THEY get out and meet US for a change. To explain themselves and their actions to us first-hand and to seek our inputs.

    How will that re-emergence manifest?
    You mean politically?

Y'know there have been a lot of high profile defections from the media lately; maybe George could start a professional pundit party.
