    Courageous ?

Going back to RTE to pontificate at 150,000 per annum.

I'd love to take a 'risk' like that.

No. Whether he pontificated or not, he called it.
Like Cassandra of old, nobody in government listened.

Ahern told us to go commit "suicide" with the moanin' and cribbin'; but George rolled up his sleeves, stacked all his chips on Irish democracy - and lost.

Exactly, courageous dissenter my hole. Taking a year off from his job in RTE to run for TD knowing that he would probably get the role; and if he didn't like it, he could always go back to RTE before May 2010. Which is what he has done.

Not a very credible person IMO, but a very selfish one, when you consider the numbers of the electorate who voted for him.

Why is it that a good number of people consider that the only risk being taken here is money. If it was about the money he would have stayed at RTE in the first place.

Is our body politic so debased that the only thing we think he did of risk was not really a risk because he was going back to a big job. He put his entire future on the line by taking the decision to run. He can probably get a decent job based on his credentials, the risk he took both times was to put his money where his mouth is and actually attempt to do something.
    The Illuminati ...... because payback's a Bit

The risk was one of looking like a fool.

And so it came to pass.

No his credibility resides in his reaction to being misled by Fine Gael's leadership. In essence FG hijacked George's land-slide victory: they selfishly put him on-ice, which effectively misrepresented his constituents' vote.

    You're certainly not risk averse.

    ffs

He was the Fine Gael candidate. His victory was their victory.

They obviously handled their golden boy very, very badly, though.

On the contrary. I'm always kicking to touch. That and lack of talent is why I've never made much of myself.
