Er, allow me to disagree: George didn't "cut, cry and run", he saw it out, to the bitter third trimester, buried in some back office while Fine Gael toasted and coasted on his coat-tails - George has brought us another scoop.

Be you FG, FF, L or G: politics in Ireland is a crony's game: CAREER BEFORE COUNTRY

And with all due respect I applaud him for it.

    It's a real pity he can't return to his old correspondent's job;
it's where he belongs, despite what all these jilted blue-shirts are moaning

    Talk is cheap

Also can you elaborate on the change bit without the need for an election - if you think it will happen within FF you may be waiting - if you think the Irish people are going to rise up in violence - you are going to be waiting even longer
Yes, talk is cheap. Very cheap and it is all we have heard from the geniuses that pretend to run the country.

The change bit will come from a revolution, something we do not do very well and will most likely end in the chaos and uncertainty that the last one did.

How long we will have to wait? Not too long I would imagine.

    And you know this, How??

Number 1, I am not your friend

Number 2, my theory is as good as any other put forward, regarding this charlatan self-publicist anti-democrat.

It should be considered an honour to be chosen in a Democratic Process by your fellow-citizens in a Free and Fair Election.

Many people sacrificed a lot to achieve our right as citizens of this Republic to participate in the Democratic Process.

To now cut and run, without in any way representing your Electors, to whom you made a solemn promise, smacks of either opportunism, or fore-knowledge as to what you intended to do at an opportune moment.

I do not find it in any way admirable that an intelligent person would put himself before the citizen electors, on a particular platform, and that he would then renege on this solemn duty after a mere nine months!!

I just find that suspicious, and so do a lot of other people.

Rather a dilettante than a crony.

OK, seriously, you think I don't make serious points regarding Democracy, the duties of a Teachta Dála chosen in a free and fair election?

You think to give this duty as a chosen representative of the people a mere nine months is OK?

If we are a Parliamentary Democracy, we need to elect people who are not just careerists, but who will take their duties as elected representatives seriously. For the Citizens to do this, we need to be presented with credible candidates, who are prepared to work tirelessly for their Electors and for the Republic.

WE were mislead by GLEE and FG to think that this is what we got when he was chosen, overwhelmingly, by his peers to represent them and to work in the National Interest.

    What did we get?

I think this is a bit of an ego tripping temper tantrum by Lee. A more typical politician will have risen from helping with leafletting to serving as a councillor etc. While I think FG could have slotted him into something more substantive, losing the rag a bit at not getting instant promotion to some post at same level as Richard Bruton, seems a bit poor. Now this is just my uninformed opinion, there could be something more to this story. It might somehow reflect FG discontent at their present leadership. Maybe?
