Shots fired during serious rioting in Short Strand

During a Slan Abhaile rally outside Mountpottigner barracks which is closing down a riot has kicked off.

The Slan Abhaile rally was being held by SF and it's believed loyalists have attacked it.

Reports are saying over 200 involved and unconfirmed reports that shots were fired

Loyalists are still attacking the PSNI and have a banner with them saying "keep the barracks open"

Well, full marks for irony anyway.
The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money.

so hold on, first SF suppor the police, but as soon as a barracks close they hold a rally to celebrate!

either they are just REALLY stupid, which sometime i do wonder, or the havnt a clue what they hell they are meant to stand for!

not a big fan of the police, but surely we would want more instead of less! crime is onyl going to up at this rate, a great example tonight of course!

of course SF will say this was a peacful protest, the other side started it, we were innocent viticms, we did nothing wrong

ignoring the fact its in east belfast, were they very little support, in a mainly loyalist area, im really scared for the country if this type of thinking happens at government level!

Yes Bigboss, that crossed my mind too, S.F's support for the psni must be causing them problems at grass roots level if they need to celebrate the closing of a barracks. They're still trying to ride two horse at the same time.
