NI Police Ombudsman : unfit for purpose?

With media attention focussed on St.Andrews on Thurday a rather undignified incident in a Belfast coffee shop seems to have gone all but unnoticed. It appears that Northern's Ireland's Police Ombusman Nuala O'Loan, verbally abused DUP MLA Ian Paisley Junior. Does such a lack of judgement and obvious partially make her position untenable?

Sounds like a bit of a storm in a tea/coffee cup to be honest.

Fair play to her for standing up for her children. I'd like to know what he said - I'm sure it was something fairly insulting anyway.

Paisley jnr is a bit of a clown. He was embarassing on Primetime the other night - he couldn't even look at Mary Lou. It was quite funny because she made a point of staring at him.

He's a married man - wise to be cautious when dealing with these shameless shinner women!

Its the "NI Police" that are unfit for the purpose - not just the ombudsman.

    I wouldn't have thought so.

In many ways, it could be argued she showed remarkable restraint by not doing what most others would have done i.e. punched or kicked him in the face.

Good to see Mary Lou getting more exposure, showing she can hold her own whether the topic on six county issues or issues like healthcare and the economy.

Out of curiousity, factual, what's your view on policing? Should SF join the policing board?
