Not really. Anyone is free to live, work and do whatever they want in the North, England, France, anywhere from here to the border of Turkey.

Who really cares about archaic borders that have no actual bearing on modern life? This is not the 1880s. The Republic has moved on, Britain has moved on, Europe has moved on.

What difference does it make? if the North was part of the Republic? so we can live there, work, have rights to vote, decide government - all are available right now. There is no benefit to living in the past, but perhaps the same mentality is for those who want the punt back.

Or are Northern Nationalists lifes not worth as much?

<Mod> This thread has been merged with "Do Northern Nationalists carewhat happened to Northern Non Nationalists?" </Mod>
That's quite ironic, as up here nationalist grievances get wall to wall coverage whilst unionist ones are often hastily covered up.

Incidentally, her ancestry is of no real concern to most people, Britons are by and large not xenophobic, unlike the Irish who keep bringing this subject up.
so why did they change their name from Sachs-Coburg-Gotha?

Well when trying to convince foolhardy youngmen to make the ultimate sacrifice you need a handle, you cannot simply say, we'll we wish to seize land belonging to the crumbling Austro-Hungarian Empire and Ottoman turks before 'Gerry' does. You can't exactly send the flower of Ulster Protestantism, and countless southern Irish along with 100,000's of English, Scots and Welsh men to die in the mud in flanders to 'Fight the hun' when your a 'Hun' yourself. So a quick name change, drop German as the 'offical' language of the royal family and your good to go.

Then it's just a case of cousin fighting cousin fritz, or was it uncle fritz?

One would have heard a lot less about Gerry McCabe if Sinn Fein had not made such a point of visibly supporting his killers.
