It seems like a funny argument to use against UI.

Having said that, the use of the water rates as an example of oppression does indicate a substantial cultural difference, in that people in the North knowingly vote for two parties that won't work together, and then complain that the NIO makes all the decisions?

Joint-management in the North is the only thing that is going to sort that out.

Yes, he said something like "Don't tell me you think we'd be able to support them (the 6 counties"

    Ocean,
She said second class citizens instead of oppression! Fair enough, but it hardly changes the context of the sentence. Also she was referring to people in the 6 counties as a whole rather than just nationalists.

Also, I have to disagree with Sean1. Gerry Ryan has to be the most annoying man on RTE after Brendan O' Connor.

I tried to watch the programme but you can't download it on the net. I don't want to see Nell McCaferty now but Id like to see that question.

I gave him a leaflet in Dublin a couple of years ago from the campaign for Irish in the EU and he gave me the thumbs up as he walked of. I have no qualms with him but Id like to see that question. He was probably just reflecting the views of a lot of people in the South, including many of those for a reunied Ireland.

I agree with you about Brendan O'Connor. I've seen him on Talbot St, beside the new Indo headquarters, a couple of times. Hes about 6'4. The first time I saw him he was on his phone and he had a bit of an arrogant air about him. The second time he looked decidedly uncomfortable, and had lost a lot of weight. It may have something to do with the poster of him in the langerland cartoon that was released shortly before.
