Northern Nationalists Supporting New Policing Structures

Residents of the strongly nationalist area of Hilltown, Co. Down have been using the local District Policing Partnership meeting to highlight concerns and question the PSNI about its performance in the area. This is despite the fact that Sinn Féin continues to abstain from such structures (thus handing their seats to unionists) claiming that nationalists do not accept the new Patten-prompted policing mechanisms.

I've written a full piece here:

Serious questiion: Do you believe that people who turn up to this should be killed, because they are cooperating with the PSNI?

I think you'll find that the SDLP had nothing to do with the members of the public attending the meeting. Just shows how much respect you have for nationalist people on the ground.... Oh wait I forgot, you don't have any respect for them- that's why you ignore them by refusing to stand for election, and why your buddies plant pipebombs at the homes of nationalists who dare to contradict you and engage with the Patten structures.

Let us all bow before the mighty saviours of Ireland

Well you believe that all PSNI people ought to be killed so I think I can live with the oddball comment.

What's stupid about the fact that the SDLP's Pat Ramsey and Eugene McMenamin (two thoroughly decent people) are continually harassed by 'republicans'? In fact, Pat's young daughter was hospitalised by an attack on his office. And of course we have the Newry and Mourne SDLP DPP members who had bullets sent to them in the post. And then we have SDLP Mayor of Belfast (and former republican internee) Pat McCarthy whose house was paintbombed as he dared to endorse the new policing arrangements.

The fact that you attempt to brush such incidents under the carpet simply proves that you know you are wrong. But unlike the SDLP (and to be fair the provos) you don't even have the guts to let the people of Ireland have their say on your 'policies'- you just take it upon yourselves to act as unelected representatives of the people of Ireland. And this despite that fact that most of the people of Ireland despise you.

Of course SDLP reps were there- they're on the DPP you fool. But the debate was sparked by local people from Hilltown who simply turned up to demand better policing from the PSNI. Sometime when you have a go at democracy, you'll realise that people have minds of their own and can act without being manipulated by the SDLP, SF or anyone else.
