There will never be an independent North of Ireland. It will not be allowed to happen.

The conservatives will make a pigs ear of things. Cameron has already exposed the sham claim that they had no selfish interest in Irelands affairs. They are the Party of the ascendancy and they will look after their interests here. This will destroy any advances amde. It will be an unmitigated disaster.

Bye bye Lisbon. I expect the Tories to be in power within weeks. I can't see how some unknown Labour stand-in can claim to have a 'mandate' (35%) won by the last PM but one in 2005. There will be a GE in September if not earlier. At least it will save Cowen (or whoever replaces him) the bother of holding a second referendum.

FT is right about Lisbon, it would remove the pressure on Ireland.

However, on the North, we would have to watch our backs.
I agree with you totally Gruffalo. Especially about the north. The tories want republicanism in all it's form beaten. It will do all it can to destroy republicanism.

Why would Brown (or whoever) call an early election? Here's hoping though. Bye, bye Lisbon if it happens.

If a treaty like that is put to us, we just vote No. Simple. That part of Dev's constitution, at least, was a masterstroke.
