Brits Deny British Spy is British Spy - Official

    http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/ ... ory=694774

Republicans must be mightily relieved to hear that, in an internal enquiry demanded by Peter Hain, the British intelligence services have found there to be no substance whatsoever in claims that Martin McGuinness ever worked for British intelligence, and have most helpfully informed the press of their complete faith concerning Marty's innocence.

Well there you have it - the Brits have said so officially, therefore, it must be true.

    Mustn't it :

I doubt any Republican will give a ************************e what any Brit 'internal inquiry' has to say.

Oh, like the thread title as well... who's a clever boy then.

Why do you believe the Brits have taken the trouble to investigate the claims, to subsequently deny them, and then to release the details to the press :

Aren't the British establishment supposed to hate you lot :

No calls of Securocrats here. For years British policy was to refuse to comment, on who was or wasn't an agent Why did they make an exception for Mc Guinness. I'd like them to comment or launch an inquiry into Paddy Floods death. Was Paddy a tout or not? Or Franko Hegarty, who denied to the media, that he was an agent, shortly before he was executed.

The interesting question would be whether this denial is:

    (a) A ham-fisted attempt to be supportive of SF by denying that one of their iconic figures was in their pay, thereby hoping to prevent disillusioned Shinners from transferring their support to dissident groups.

    or

    (b) An cynical attempt to cast further suspicion on McGuinness by giving him the official seal of approval of H.M's Government, and thus discrediting his Republican bona-fides.

As a believer in the cock-up rather than conspiracy theory of history, e.g. in my opinion things are more likely to happen through accident than design, I'd go for (a) rather than (b).

I'd be curious to discover why Shinners believe McGuinness has been given a clean bill of health by the British state.

I'd like them to comment or launch an inquiry into Paddy Floods death. Was Paddy a tout or not? Or Franko Hegarty, who denied to the media, that he was an agent, shortly before he was executed.
I believe Shinners like to march behind banners loudly proclaiming, collusion was no illusion.

Well, I would agree, collusion between leading Republicans and the British security services certainly was no illusion. Quite possibly, even probably, it resulted in the deaths of more Republicans than any possible collusion between Loyalists and the British state. And what have SF to say about this? Nothing whatsoever. A British agent, Scapaticci, responsible for the lingering and gruesome deaths of some 40 activists, and the SF leadership, rather than calling for enquiries and prosecutions, acts to protect the perpetrators of these crimes.

These were committed Republicans, yet the IRA appears unwilling to either apologise, or clear the names of those killed in its name, for fear of losing face.

    Sad and perplexing.

Maybe they did because people like you and other anti-SF people can say: "Oh, look the Brits are denying it so it must be true".

Didn't Paddy Flood's handler in the FRU write a book called "Fishers Of Men" naming him as a paid agent?
