Who would win in a fight between pIRA and the Taliban?

It is broadcast by Spike, a cable channel owned by MTV aimed at "young adult males", and the pitch for Sunday's programme is suitably dramatic. "The Taliban - deadly extremists battling in the mountains of Afghanistan, versus the IRA - elusive, hard-hitting masters of Ireland's urban jungles.

"It's a battle to the death, between two lethal guerrilla warriors, armed to the teeth with flamethrowers, rocket launchers, carbines, mines and a devastating home-made bombs."
DUP MP Jeffrey Donaldson said the programme could be seen as glorifying terrorism..

    Deadliest Warrior
Personally I would prefer to see
"The PSNI - lazy, good for nothing, shysters of Ireland's urban jungles versus the Heroes of Loyalism - cowardly, barstool warriors to thick and lumpen to get into the brit Army."
"I don't think Martin McGuinness necessarily intended to kill anyone while in the IRA." factual

Put them all together in one big make-believe field away from everyone, and give them all lots of them make-believe Iraqi WMD's.

It would depend on where the fight was.
Balaclava men in padded green camoflauge wouldnt last to long in baking hot sandy mountains, and the Taliban wouldnt get to use their suicide bombers in Belfast because the 'ra would have already levelled it.

The big question of course is, who would the Wolfe Tones support in such a battle? Loyalty to the nation or the beard?

"Come out you Taliban come out and fight me like a man, show your 12 wives how you won virgins in Afghanistan"
" Tell them how the IRA made you run like hell away, when they levelled their own country before ye"

Yeah, I think it could work.

    You know who'd love this?

Every one sees what you appear to be, few really know what you are, and those few dare not oppose themselves to the opinion of the many, who have the majesty of the state to defend them.

    Hmmm lets see.

The IRA failed to win the battle for a corner of our tiny island.
The Taliban are still holding against the joint US and British forces in Afghanistan and are currently advancing on the capital of Pakistan,
one of the most highly populated countries in the world.

The Taliban is funded by oil rich Saudis and the heroin trade.
The IRA was funded by sales of dodgy fags, Wolfe Tones gigs and some starry eyed Yanks.

    But most importantly.
The IRA killed by using complicated hit-and-miss bombing/sniping strategies that could be described as difficult to pull off at best.
The Taliban walk up to their targets and detonate themselves.

    Tough one to call alright.

Ah but the IRA knee capped kids and starved themselves to death..

No forget about that, I take your point.

taliban , hands down and no contest. It would also be interesting just to see that tramp adams growing his beard again in order to switch sides ..again .
The real question they should be asking though is who is going to win between the taliban and NATO . Far from a certain outcome there .
